Why are Bishopton Vets an independent veterinary practice?

We’re locally owned and locally managed

We have been proudly independent since we were first established in 1943 – and we plan to stay that way.

Our practice is owned and operated by a dedicated team of experienced vets who live locally and are actively involved in the day-to-day of caring for patients and building relationships with clients, to many of whom they will be familiar faces.

Together, they have defined our CARES vision, which summarises our ethos and values – clinical excellence, adaptability, respect, education and sustainability.

Clinical Excellence
  • We attract exceptional people.
  • We work closely with our clients on preventative treatments and utilise the latest technology to sustainably enhance animal health and welfare.
  • We are proud of our outstanding facilities and level of care provided for our patients, clients and employees.
  • Our Practice will achieve and maintain the highest status as awarded by our Governing body.
Adaptability
  • We are proudly independent; this allows us to be innovative and flexible.
  • We continually invest and develop our technology across the practice, to the benefit of clients and our business.
  • We have the knowledge and ability to advise clients of all available options to ensure a successful outcome.
Respect
  • We recognise the importance of every member of our team.
  • We endeavour to work with companies and suppliers who share our vision and values.
  • We listen to our clients and staff to ensure we exceed expectation.
  • We strive to be the best company to work for.
Education
  • We are committed to continuous improvement through the ongoing training of our team.
  • We offer best advice and training to all our clients across the board.
  • We are committed to inspire and develop the next generation of our industry.
Sustainability
  • We prioritise the health and well-being of our employees.
  • We work closely with our clients on preventative treatments and utilise technology to sustainably enhance animal health and welfare.
  • We honour our obligations to ensure our business impacts least on the environment.

This is informed by our knowledge of our local communities and the needs of North Yorkshire’s farmers, pet parents and horse owners.

It is by remaining independent that we can ensure that future generations will receive veterinary care underscored by the same principles as our clients do today.

What does our independent status mean for our clients?

Being independent means we can invest in our service and grow our practice with a long-term perspective to deliver the best results for our clients, while continuing to offer great value for money.

It also means we can provide a personal touch, with a focus on continuity of care enabled by our outstanding retention of team members, with many vets, nurses and support team members dedicating themselves to our clients for decades.

In practice, that shows in our commitment to our Lifetime Care Club, which has been a cornerstone of our offering to pet owners for years, and includes unlimited consults with our vets and nurses.

It means we can act on the increasing evidence emerging about the development of drug resistance and the harmful effects of some parasite treatments on our ecosystem by offering bespoke, risk-based parasite plans for Lifetime Care Club members, protecting your pet and your family whilst also caring for our environment.

And it means we can drill down on exactly what our farm clients need for their business, to improve animal welfare and avoid costly problems down the line.

This is what we believe great veterinary care looks like, defined by our CARES vision and the values of our local owners.

We will do everything we can to continue providing the best care for your animals
