We are situated next to the Auction Mart in Pateley Bridge, with plenty of on-site parking. Patients visiting the surgery will be cared for by vets Alex Russell, Emily Bill and Jess Umpleby. Our Client Care Assistants Naomi & Tamara are waiting to take your call. We offer a free health check and welcome pack for each pet when you register. If you would like to register with us please contact us using the details below or complete our online form. Our emergency out of hours service takes place at our Ripon Hospital. Alex Russell

A bit about me...

Alex graduated with distinction from Edinburgh University in 2013, before working as a small animal vet across Lancashire and North Yorkshire. She joined the practice in autumn 2015 and is based at our Ripon and Pateley Bridge branches. 

In the past Alex has spent time in Sri Lanka helping treat, vaccinate and neuter street dogs, and managed a team at PDSA charity hospital in Sunderland in 2018.

Alex has a keen interest in soft tissue surgery and recently achieved her Royal College Certificate in General Small Animal Surgery.

Did you know?
Alex lives in Thirsk with Sully the cocker spaniel and Nessie the cat. She enjoys walking, yoga and indoor climbing.

A bit about me...

After growing up on a smallholding Emily was keen from a young age  to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine. After completing a degree in Veterinary Science at The Royal Veterinary College in London, she spent a year there as the Student Union President before completing a degree in Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2015 and began work at a busy Small Animal Hospital in West Yorkshire before making the move to North Yorkshire in 2017.  Emily has a keen interest in Small Animal Medicine and is currently working towards her BSAVA Small Animal Medicine Certificate. She particularly enjoys Feline Medicine and is very happy to be involved with the Radio Iodine Cat Centre at Ripon.  

Did you know?
Emily thoroughly enjoys life in the Dales, cycling, running and walking with her fiancé Martin and Westie/Bichon cross Lola. She has recently acquired a sewing machine and aims to eventually be able to make some of her own clothes!

A bit about me...

Jess went to the University of Glasgow and graduated with commendation in 2016, she joined Bishopton in 2017.

Did you know?
Outside of work Jess enjoys gardening and and dog walks in the countryside with her Labrador called Poppy.She also has a small flock of free range hens.

A bit about me...

Naomi qualified with a degree in Canine and Feline Training, Behaviour and Welfare before coming to work for Bishopton in 2018. Naomi enjoys all aspects of her job and is enjoying putting her knowlege of canine behaviour and animal training to use.

Outside of work Naomi enjoys walking with her two dogs, going to the gym and travelling.

A bit about me...
Tamara has worked at Bishopton since 2008 and has worked across both farm and small animal, with roles including dispensary, lab work, insurance and client care. Whilst working at Bishopton Tamara has gained a national diploma in animal care.
Did you know?
Outside of work Tamara enjoys looking after her menagerie of animals which include birds, guinea pigs, dogs, cats and a pet sheep! She has a young family and loves walking and generally being outside whatever the weather.

A bit about me...

Gill started at Bishopton in 2001 as a Student Nurse, she studied through The College Of Animal Welfare and qualified as an RVN in 2005.

Throughout her time at Bishopton, Gill has worked within the nursing team and the client care team. She mainly works at the Pateley Bridge Surgery where she is the Operations Nurse and runs a Practice Nurse Clinic. She also runs the Puppy Socialisation Classes at  Ripon and is one of the nurses running The Happy Dog Clinics.   Gill has a particular interest in dogs that are anxious in a veterinary environment and aim to make the animals veterinary experience the best that it can!

Outside of work Gill enjoys spending time with family, walking her dog Darcy, running her holiday cottage in Northumberland and spending time on the beach!
