Client Care Assistant - Full or Part Time

Due to recent team promotions we are excited to offer a role working at our Ripon Hospital and our branch surgeries. This will be predominately weekday working with a current commitment to work one weekend every 12 weeks.
About Bishopton Vets
We’ve been trusted, local and independent since 1943 – but we’d be nothing without our team today.

Are you friendly, organised, and passionate about helping people? Bishopton Vets, a busy, well-equipped RCVS Hospital and ISFM Cat Friendly Accredited Practice in the beautiful city of Ripon, is looking for two Client Care Assistants to join our welcoming and supportive team.
About The Role - Client Care Assistant - Full or Part Time
Closing Date: Mon 19th October 2026
Location(s): Ripon

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Give clients a warm, friendly welcome and support them with care and empathy - you'll often be the calm, reassuring face they see on a worrying day.
  • Book appointments and surgical procedures using our practice management system.
  • Answer calls promptly and handle enquiries by phone, email and PetsApp with patience and professionalism.
  • Use our triage process to respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations as they come through the door or down the phone.
  • Support our vets during appointments - animal handling, preparation and client liaison - and process incoming lab reports onto patient records.
  • Dispense medications accurately in line with practice protocol, with clear labelling and guidance for owners on how and when to give them.
  • Take payments, support smooth, efficient admin behind the scenes and following up on outstanding client balances.
  • Keep our waiting areas welcoming, clean and organised, following our infection control and hygiene protocols throughout the client spaces.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Excellent communication skills, with a warm, empathetic approach to every client you meet - often at a worrying time for them and their pet.
  • Strong organisational skills and real attention to detail, so nothing slips through the cracks even when the day gets bus.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, juggling calls, walk-ins and admin without missing a beat.
  • Solid customer service experience, ideally gained face-to-face or over the phone in a busy setting.
  • Confident IT literacy, including email and practice management systems - full training provided.
  • A true team player with a positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to muck in wherever you're needed.
  • Flexibility to work within our team rota, including a 1 in 12 weekend commitment across our Ripon or Thirsk sites.
  • A valid driving licence, essential when covering shifts at one of our branch locations
  • Desirable: experience or interest in veterinary/healthcare settings

Culture & Community

Life at Bishopton isn’t all work; we know how to have fun too. From Bishy Bingo nights, quiz evenings and bowling trips, to charity runs and craft clubs, there’s always something going on. Each summer, we join Ripon’s St Wilfrid’s Procession, where the whole team picks a theme, designs a float, and gets creative with costumes (yes, we’ve been pirates and Oompa Loompas!). Many of our team have been with us for years because here, you’re not just part of a workplace, you’re part of a community.
