Endoscopy

Endoscopy referrals for Yorkshire and the North East

Endoscopy covers a range of diagnostic procedures involving inserting a camera attached to a flexible tube into the body for internal imaging.

Our team has access to a range of endoscopes to help with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy examines the upper digestive tract, including the oesophagus, stomach and duodenum. It is often useful in retrieving gastric foreign bodies such as socks and plastic.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy examines the lower digestive tract, the colon and rectum, and is particularly important for diagnosis of inflammatory bowel disease and gastrointestinal cancers.

Rhinoscopy

Rhinoscopy is a medical procedure used to examine the inside of the nose and nasal passages. It involves using a thin, tube-like instrument called a rhinoscope, which has a light and lens for viewing, and is used in the diagnosis of various conditions like infections, tumors and foreign objects from the nasal passages and upper airways in both dogs and cats.

Bronchoscopy

Bronchoscopy is a procedure using a thin, flexible tube with a light and camera to examine the airways and lungs. The bronchoscope is inserted through the nose or mouth and can help diagnose and even treat certain lung conditions. Samples can also be taken to help diagnose infectious agents in cases where we suspect a bacterial or fungal underlying cause to the patient’s clinical signs.
