We were delighted to be awarded our Silver iiE Accreditation from the Investors in the Environment!
We are very proud to announce that we have achieved our Silver accreditation from Investors in the Environment! This has involved lots of hard work and determination from team members across all our departments and surgeries to help us become a more sustainable business.
Here are some of the highlights from the report:
- Utility and waste data quality has improved, allowing better performance analysis and targeted action to reduce resource use and minimise waste.
- Significant reductions have been achieved across most measured resources, even with an increase in business activity.
- Improvements in waste management have been achieved through reviewing and improving stock control processes.
- Significant action targeting sustainable travel has been implemented, including the installation of new EV chargers at three sites. Impact of travel on the carbon footprint has reduced, even though overall business mileage has slightly increased, through a transition to hybrid and electric fleet vehicles.
- Multiple projects with significant environmental impact have been actioned, including the award winning wildflower meadow at the Thirsk site and a team gardening project at our Ripon Hospital.
- BVG has engaged external stakeholders and educated those in the veterinary and agricultural sector about sustainability, including via client discussion groups, lectures, conferences and workshops.
This year we achieved an overall score of 82%, and scored an outstanding 100% in three areas - improved waste management, environmental and social projects, and communication and engagement.
This important accreditation represents our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to making a positive impact across the whole of our practice.
