Training Workshops for Pig Stockmen and Farmers 2010/2011

Following a successful set of training workshops last year, the Bishopton Pig Team are continuing their support of the British Pig Industry by running their training workshops this coming September to May.

Aimed at both the senior stock person and farm manager, the courses are designed to provide focused and relevant up to date information of practical use to pig keepers. All those currently working with pigs in the pig industry will have wanted to know the answers to why pigs respond in certain ways to environment or management changes – these courses will provide the answers that will help improve the health, welfare and productivity of your stock. Each workshop will focus on one production area of the farm, with the whole series of eight giving a complete picture. All courses will be led by one of our Lantra trained specialist pig veterinary team, with full participation and solving of on farm problems being actively encouraged. PIPR points will be awarded for each workshop, and the contents will also support those undertaking the Pig Industry Certificate of Competence. Thanks to the assistance of Yorkshire Forward and industry sponsorship from Intervet Schering Plough Animal Health, the cost to the attendee per workshop has been maintained at a bargain £10 each – this includes refreshments, lunch and course notes. For further information and to reserve a place on any of the workshops, please telephone Sylvia on 01765 602396.
