COVID-19 Information

We sincerely hope all our clients are well and coping in these unprecedented times. Please be aware that vets have been granted key worker status in order to continue to play their role in supporting food production in the UK. The activities of vets in this regard is under intense scrutiny. Whilst operating under the government’s rules on COVID-19 the following rules now apply:

EVERY call that we now undertake must be justified as:

  • Having a direct welfare implication
  • Have a direct link to effective operations and food production / supply.

The pre-eminent question as to whether we can attend is – can this be done safely?

We must be able to operate under the following rules:

  • A minimum of 2m space must be achieved between the vet and others.
  • You must ensure that the minimum people required for the task are present.
  • Anyone with any signs of ill health must leave the area.
  • Any vulnerable people must stay completely away.
  • Vet to wear gloves & clean / disinfect before and after all jobs.

The vet must not attend or must leave a farm if the client is unable to work with the vet to meet these rules.

Whilst we realise that there are circumstances where obeying these rules will be awkward – please use all means at your disposal to achieve them. We trust that should any difficult decisions have to be made that our clients will understand the imperative to keep everyone safe. This approach also affords the best possible chance to maintain an ambulatory service during this unprecedented period.

Medicines Collection Update. Where possible please order your medicines for delivery to accompany the vet on their next visit. If this is not possible, please telephone or email your order to dispensary@bishoptonvets.co.uk When visiting the practice to collect medicines please ring from the car on arrival to arrange collection. If you wish to collect your medicines out of hours these can be placed in one of our secure medicine boxes which are disinfected regularly. If you are struggling to pick medicines up please call to discuss and we will do our best to get these delivered to you.
